I love the art work of renowned artist Walt Walker, who sadly passed away about 5 years ago. I briefly met him years ago at Venice Beach, Ca. Venders were parked along the coast of Venice Beach selling their crafts, art and other items. Mr. Walker and his lovely wife had a booth; as I recall it was the very last booth at the end of the line in which my sister and I came to. I recognized his art as soon as I saw it! I told my sister I HAD to buy a piece of his art!! I have been an admirer of his art for a long time. Anyway, while he sat in a chair behind the table, with his head down and a hat on, as if asleep, his very sweet wife, Mrs. Walker sold his paintings and prints. I asked how much a painting would cost but, of course, I could not afford to buy one. I had no idea I was talking to Mrs. Walker personally. But, she said she had one of his prints which Mr. Walker had painted over, and sold it to me for $10. I was so excited, and as I babbled on and on to the wonderful lady that sold me the print, Mr. Walker woke up & thanked me for the kind things I said about his work (I really think he was playing possum the whole time....lol). I couldn't believe it! I was speaking to Mr. Walker himself! I recognized him from a clip I saw in a magazine. I love my treasured piece of art, and I hope to pass it on to my grandson when I am long gone. I know Mrs. Walker would not remember that particular day, but it will be in my thoughts forever. This is the painting I bought at that time. I have it hanging in my upstairs loft.
